Second Chance Center Graduate Successes

"Well, I finally remembered today who I really am. I was the captain of my football team. I was the champ in my eyes. Guys twice my size would come at me and I’d throw them to the ground and get to that Running Back or Quarterback. No one could get in my way no matter how big they were. I had intention! I was stable!

"I lost that along the way. I started letting that other side of me take over. That was the drug addict, the drug dealer. I remembered that my father always told me I would never be anything in my life and that I was a loser. The drugs made me buy into that. I lost my intention. By selling drugs I was hurting people. Then I started hurting myself. So I forgot about that other person, the winner, the one I really am. I convinced myself I was no good. I slowly turned myself into the loser my Dad said I’d always be. I bought into that.

"Well, I don’t believe that anymore. I’m going to be the winner that I really am. I’ve got a dream and that dream is to save all of those lives that I have ruined. I’m going to save lives instead of taking them. The program is giving me my real self back. I’m not giving up on me any more. If I have a problem I’m going to handle it with intention without reservation. I can do anything I put my mind to.

"You’re breeding winners here; you just have to believe it yourself. It might not be easy at first. Just put more intention into it and don’t ever give up. I’m going to move people into a better place in their minds like you have done for me. Thank you to the staff here; I couldn’t have ever come to this place in my mind without you guys. I’m a champ again!"

"My biggest win was coming to a program that will actually help to better my life. I have been to many programs and none of them have given me the tools to be confident and have the intention to actually want to stay clean from drugs, or to know what got me in trouble and know how to stay away from those situations. And I now know how to handle those situations so that I don't make poor judgments."

"My biggest win out of the program is seeing that a person can be changed with the tools they give us here. The program brought out my desire to succeed in life, my willingness to help other people, and taught me how to handle any situation that I'm in to better my life."

"My biggest win was coming here to the Second Chance program. It has helped me change my way of thinking. Before, all I would think about was how I was going to get my next high. Now I have learned how to communicate with people and I will be able to confront anything that gets in my way. But my biggest win is that I got my self-respect back."

"I have to say that I would definitely recommend this program. There is no amount of money that can substitute for one’s life. The Second Chance Center of NM has not only given me the tools to take back my life, but it has also given me the tools to be a better father, husband, and son. I really learned who I am and began to get in touch with myself. 'The most beautiful treasure is to find oneself.'"
J.M.

"What I got out of this program is that I got my sense of responsibility back, knowing what is right for me and everyone around me. With the sauna program, I found myself feeling like I did before I ever took that first drink or drug. I feel great, especially about myself. The world is waiting for me and I know what is best for me."
A.G.

"I just feel like the sauna was the best and greatest thing I have been through. I have no more craving for any drugs. I really feel good about that. The sauna really made me see things in a whole different perspective. I never felt this clean and pure in my life ever before. It is a really good thing."
